The Maddest Day

Peter Turrini pushes Beaumarchais’s original to its limit and turns it into a quick-witted duel of words, wordplay and forceful punchlines. The Maddest Day has long since established itself as a comic classic in its own right, and not only in German-language theatre.

Maria Köstlinger directed for gutgebrüllt for the third time. The Theater in der Josefstadt ensemble member adapted the original with great care for an audience from the age of six, assisted by Felicitas Lukas; the prologue was written by Elke Schwab.

These were the first performances on our rolling stage, a showman’s wagon rebuilt into a theatre.
